I worked as a primary school teacher before becoming published so I know how much an author visit can enthuse and inspire children. I can tailor my author events to your school and the age of the children.
If you're a school or bookshop interested in an author visit, please get in touch via the contact form below. I occasionally do free events around the time I publish a new book, but for most of the year I charge a fee for school visits. If you'd like me to email you please put your email address inside your message. If you don't add an email to the body of your message I'll reply on this page. If you scroll down you can see all the replies I make at the bottom.
If you're a fan of the books you can also use the contact form below to send me a message and I will reply on this page.

Hi Millie, thanks for getting in touch. Yes, I do school visits and my fees for this autumn and spring 2025 are £425 for a whole day visit. You're 3 hours away from me though, so I wouldn't be able to go there and back plus do the visit all in one day. I'd need to add the expense of a one night in a premier inn or similar on top which adds to the fee. Do get back in touch if you're still interested. I'm also on Authors Aloud which organises visits with many different author and speakers. Thanks and best wishes, Paula

Hi Ellie! I'm so glad you like the Red Moon Rising books. I had a lot of fun writing them. I've never thought about the story as a film before. It's definitely something to think about - maybe it would be best as an animation. Best wishes, Paula
Ellie (Thursday, 24 October 2024 19:17)
Hi! I am 12 and I absolutely love your red moon rising series, they are my new favourite books, I have read all 3 of them. I think it would make a really good film, is this something you have thought about? You should definitely do it!

Hi Paula. I love your books. Can you make a Kitty book about about a football team called Pumpkin United whose stadium name is Pumpkin Arena, that has a stadium capacity of 200,000. You could call it ‘Kitty and the Pumpkin United Road to Glory’.
From your biggest fan, Henry

Hi Paula Harrison, We absolutely love your Kitty books and are so excited to share each new one. We are currently reading Kitty and the Treetop Chase. We noticed at the start of chapter 4 it says 'broen' - should this say brown? We weren't sure if it was a new word or not so wanted to check. Many thanks for your help and for writing such brilliant books!

Hi, Paula,
I hope this finds you safe and well and either enjoying the glorious sunshine, or the glorious thunderstorm, like we are in Witney!
We put it to out local kiddos and asked what authors they would love to see and your name was one of the tops, so we were wondering if you would ever be up for doing an activity day or event with us at all?
We are based in Oxfordshire, about 15 miles from Oxford itself.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Kind regards,

Hi Emmy, I'm so pleased you like The Secret Rescuers. I don't generally do autographs unless I meet people in person! Happy reading! Paula

Hi Anna, sorry I completely missed your message before Easter. Thanks for messaging me and I'm glad you loved the Secret Rescuers. Authors don't generally choose how long their series are. The publisher chooses that because they're the ones who pay to have the series produced and printed. I would have liked to have written a couple more at least! But it wasn't to be. Best wishes, Paula

Hi Lucy, thanks for getting in touch. I'd love to see the costume! I'm on X as @P_Harrison99 and on instagram as @paulaharrisonauthor . I don't understand how her book could have got missed out when we had a list of children for book signing! If you contact me again and leave your address perhaps I could put a signed bookplate in the post for you and you can then stick it into her book? I'm pleased she's enjoying the story. Hello, I'm mum to Rowan and wanted to send you a picture of Rowan dressed up as Kitty for World Book Day looking so proud and happy!
I made her costume at the weekend and she immediately wore it for the rest of the day... we were going to the cinema!
She's loving the book and enjoyed your visit to her school in Chipperfield very much. Unfortunately, her book wasn't a signed one although they were all supposed to be.
Perhaps I could tag you on social media so you get to see it??
Thank you
Lucy

Hi Amanda, Happy New Year! I'm so pleased the children are enjoying the Kitty books so much! I'm afraid I don't have a set of books to send right now, as we recently had a charity drive over here and they all went to that. I'd be happy to record the children a short video message which I could send to you on WeTransfer. Just give me a shout if you'd like that. best wishes, Paula

Hi Paula!
I am writing to you from Vermont, USA!
I am a licensed teacher who works in a nonprofit preschool here in the green mountain state (though I did both of my degrees at Liverpool John Moores University and became a QTS teacher in the UK! Married and brought home a scouser! Haha).
As a Mom, I found your Kitty books a couple of years ago and began reading them to our daughters. Olivia, now 9, has always asked for new Kitty books each birthday and Christmas. We have quite the collection of books at our house now, so this year I began bringing them in to my 4/5 year old preschoolers!
As a class we have read 6 of your books since September! It is astounding how much these children, much like my own, have connected with your books and your characters. They adore them and are always excited to start the next! In fact, today they decided to start writing their own class Kitty adventure story, which they will illustrate and act out for their parents. So fun!
We are writing to see if you would be so gracious as to send Evergreen Preschool a set of your Kitty books for our school library? We would love to have you visit our kiddos here at school, but recognize a trip all the way to Vergennes, Vermont is probably a little too far. Haha! Would you ever consider a Zoom or Google Meets call?
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. You've brought such joy and love of reading to not only my own children, but also our group of preschoolers. The world is a better place because of your writing!
All the best,
Amanda Anderson

Hello, my name is Linsey and my daughter Amira is enthralled with your Kitty Adventures series. She has made a little ‘book in a jar’ Kitty inspired decoration for her room and she has written her own Kitty Adventure which includes our puppy Zippy. She wanted Kitty and Pumpkin to have a doggy friend. It’s called ‘Kitty and the Lost Tickets on a Windy Day’. I was just wondering if you would be able to read it and send her a little message. She’s 6 and since reading your books she has become an even more enthusiastic reader. She also loves the Rescue Princess series too. We went on a special trip to London to visit Hatchards as it’s such a beautiful book shop and they stock the series. I’m a secondary school English teacher and to be honest I love reading them with her too!! Kind regards Linsey
My email address is linseyanne@hotmail.co.uk if you are able to get in touch that would be wonderful

Hi Katie, Yes this Kitty book hasn't been published in the States, so if you want to read it you'd need to buy a UK version online. I would look in online bookstores. Best wishes, Paula

Hi Amelia Anne, I'm glad you're enjoying the Secret Rescuers! You're right - those characters are the same and should have the same name. The mix up happened between my UK and US publishers and sending the story across the ocean. Best wishes, Paula

Hi! I have been searching for Kitty and the Snowball Bandit; however, I cannot find where to purchase this anywhere in the U.S. Where can I purchase this book? Thank You!!
Amelia Anne Garnick (Tuesday, 05 December 2023 13:37)
Dear Paula -- My name is Amelia Anne. I am eight years old and live on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, NY. I really enjoy reading The Secret Rescuers with my dad before bedtime.
I am on the last book of the series, The Sea Pony, and I noticed something between The Sky Unicorn and The Sea Pony. In Sky Unicorn, the main girl character is named Ava and the baby unicorn is named Clover. But, in Sea Pony, the girl's name is Maya and the baby unicorn's name is Marella.
I was wondering if that was supposed to happen or if these are different characters. I am confused. And your books are awesome.
I look forward to your response.
Amelia Anne

I was just wondering if you had any availability on World Book week 4th-8th March to come and speak to a school based in South West London. This would be aimed at Year 2 and 3 and we would be happy to also offer book sales.
Thanks

Hello, Paula Harrison,
What do you think of this idea? All fifteen Rescue Princesses joining together to rescue a magical animal like a unicorn. Everybody needs teamwork and all the princesses they could get.
Best Wishes,

Hi! My daughter and I absolutely love your books! We’ve read all of the Kitty books and are now reading the Secret Rescuers series together. We’re currently reading The Sea Pony, and we’re very confused by the use of the name Maya. At the beginning of the book, Sophy shows up with her friend, Maya, who is riding a Sky Unicorn. Maya tells about Marella and some of her adventures rescuing the baby Sky Unicorn in the earlier book, but the name of the girl who did those things in The Sky Unicorn is Ava. Unless we’re mistaken, name Maya was not used in that book or any of the others. My daughter asked me to email you and see if the use of the name Maya was a mistake or if we are missing something and if you could help us understand.
Thank you!!

Good evening! I would like to enquire about a cost of a school visit, around World Book Day. We love creating magical experiences for our 7 classes. We don’t ask them to dress up, we aim to immerse them and give them reason to love books and reading. Thank you!

Hi,
I wanted to thank you for your Rescue Princesses series. My seven year old daughter loves them. She was gifted ten of them at the start of the summer and she has read all of them, she loves them.
We went on a long car journey over the summer and we listened to the Robyn Silver books as well. We both loved them.
Thanks. My daughter told me to tell you to keep writing.

Good Afternoon,
We are really excited to have you visit our school in a few weeks time as part of your work with Tring Bookshop. In preparation for your visit we have a group of children taking part in a book club to read one of your previous Kitty stories. We wondered if you would be willing to write a letter to the children in the book club to explain how you came up with the kitty stories and how you are looking forward to visiting the school.
