I worked as a primary school teacher before becoming published so I know how much an author visit can enthuse and inspire children. I can tailor my author events to your school and the age of the children.

If you're a school or bookshop interested in an author visit, please get in touch via the contact form below. I occasionally do free events around the time I publish a new book, but for most of the year I charge a fee for school visits. If you'd like me to email you please put your email address inside your message. If you don't add an email to the body of your message I'll reply on this page. If you scroll down you can see all the replies I make at the bottom.

If you're a fan of the books you can also use the contact form below to send me a message and I will reply on this page.

    Hello there,

My daughter is an enormous fan of The Rescue Princesses series. After finishing reading them for the umpteenth time, I realized that these aren't available in audiobook form. I'm writing to express my strong interest in narrating the North American audiobooks. As a narrator and music educator with extensive experience working with young children, I bring a warm, expressive storytelling style that resonates with early readers and emerging listeners. I’m especially drawn to this series for its blend of adventure, friendship, and empowering themes for young girls. Stories that translate beautifully into audio when given the right balance of clarity, character, and heart.
If you would be open to it, I would love to discuss the possibility of narrating an audiobook edition for you, whether independently or through a platform like ACX. I’d be happy to provide a short sample recording so you can get a sense of my voice and style.
I also have a home recording setup suitable for audiobook production and am actively building my portfolio in children’s and family-friendly titles. I would welcome the opportunity to audition with a sample from the series or provide references to my existing work.I believe these stories have wonderful potential to reach a wider audience through audio in the North American market, and I would be honored to help bring them to life in a way that is engaging, accessible, and true to their spirit.Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I would be delighted to connect further.

    Warmly,
    Jess ([email protected])

    Hi Paula,
I just wanted to send you a message to say THANK YOU for writing your books. My six year old, Alma, discovered the Rescue Princess series last summer and we've read all of them together. She picks one character per book (usually the main character) and reads all their speaking parts. Doing this every night last summer really transformed her reading confidence and she hasn't looked back since. She loves the books so much that she's given copies to her friends and we even hosted a 'rescue princess' playdate a few months ago. These book have really opened her eyes to how fun and enjoyable reading can be. I'm hoping it'll be a life long love of hers.

We've also recently discovered your Kitty series - which my five year old, Theo, is really enjoying.

Thank you so much - please keep writing!

    All the best,
    Rachel

Hi Katharine, I'm so pleased that your daughter's enjoying the Kitty books so much! Luckily there are plenty of books in that series to read! Thanks for lifting my spirits with your message. Paula x

    Dear Paula,
My daughter loves your Kitty books and it’s the first time I’ve seen her so engrossed in a story she actually walked up the stairs to bed with her nose still in the book. She was lucky to meet you at a school visit this week, having already read several of your books in her school library and she’s still talking about it. She treasures the copy you signed for her, it’s a special thing to have and has made a big impression on her. From a book loving mum, I’m grateful to see the spark in her eye of escapism, delight in well written characters, in fanciful worlds and beautiful writing. Thank you so much.

    Hi Katie,
Thanks for getting in touch. Yes, it's fine to contact me here and I can get you all that information. Would you mind messaging again here and leaving your email address so that I can get in touch with you directly? I can delete the message after reading so that your email address isn't visible here on the website.
I do have a couple of free days left in World Book Day week and I do travel to London, so it's certainly something we can talk about.
    Thanks and best wishes,

    Hi Paula,

I hope you are doing well. My aunt is Sue Ransom, also from Nosy Crow, and she suggested it would be worth reaching out to you about author talks for World Book Week!

I was hoping to find out a little more about your workshops, prices and availability for EYFS/ Key Stage 1 workshops. We are a small independent boys school in Swiss Cottage, London.

Is this the right way to contact you about this?

Thanks in advance and best wishes,
    Katie Thomas

    Erin Enberg (Thursday, 06 November 2025 12:29)

    Dear Paula,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Erin and I am reaching out on behalf of Ohio University’s children’s literature and storytelling for early and middle childhood education students. Our group will be traveling to Oxford in early January and I wanted to see if you might be interested in sharing your expertise and experiences our cohort of future educators.

In our courses—ECEE 4400: Children’s Literature and Storytelling and EDMC 3210: Literature for Middle Childhood—students explore the role of literature and storytelling in literacy development, diversity, illustration, and classroom engagement. Your work as an author and storyteller would beautifully support our learning outcomes. Broadly speaking, some of Our goals include helping future educators:

    • Articulate the role and value of literature and storytelling in literacy and learning for all children.
    • Select and evaluate award-winning and diverse children’s literature.
    • Recognize and apply motivational storytelling techniques in the classroom.
    • Explore illustration, genre, and multicultural perspectives in children’s books.

We would love to arrange a guest talk or workshop in Oxford the week of January 6th—on a date that suits your schedule. Thank you for considering this invitation. I would be delighted to share more details about the course aims and discuss possible formats for your visit.

    Warm regards,
    Erin

    Hi Paula,

I wanted to say thank you - my little boy LOVES the Secret Rescuer series. He's only four but he loves me reading a chapter a night for him. He calls them his 'big boy' books! I love that the rescuers are girls and also the message about helping animals/those being hunted. What wonderful books, with a wonderful message. He also likes to pretend he's naughty Sir Fitzroy when he has his plastic sword out in the garden...

I look forward to him reading them as he gets older and getting even more enjoyment.

Thanks for putting such wonderful stories out into the world.

    Thanks,

    Carli

We are Access Education RRISD, a volunteer-run grassroots organization focused on improving public education within Round Rock ISD and Texas. The trustees we’ve elected know the value of having diverse books available to our students, and have fought against censorship and book bans. We need your help to continue to be able to elect trustees who are able to do the same.

We are holding A Novel Gala on September 19th. We will have a silent auction and would be grateful to include a donation of a signed copy from The Secret Rescuers series (or other titles).

In exchange, we will list your name on our website, highlight you in our community emails, and on social media. With your support, we can continue to support our book-loving community and keep diverse books on shelves.

    Thank you for your support!

Hi Eleanor, thank you for writing to me. I'm so pleased you're enjoying my stories and I hope you had fun on World Book Day as Kitty! My favourite series is currently Animagicals - a new series that I have coming out next year! It's all about children who have the magical ability to turn into animals.
I used to read a lot of Famous Five and Mallory Towers when I was your age, but all sorts of books really. Happy reading! Paula x

    Dear Paula,
I am 8 years old and my name is Eleanor.
Me and my Mum love your Kitty books.I started loving your Kitty books when I read one at school then my mum borrowed LOADS from the library. I dressed up as Kitty for world book day. I believe that there should be some more of your books at my school so that other people can enjoy them as much as I do.
I also hope that soon we will get some more of the Rescue Princesses as I really like those as well.
What is your favourite series of books that you have written? And what was your favourite series of books when you were younger?
    From Eleanor.

Hi Lorna, thanks for getting in touch. I don't have anything planned that's close to you unfortunately. A lot of my bookings over the next few months are for school visits rather than bookshops. Hello Paula. My twin girls LOVE the Kitty series, and the Fairy Tale Ninjas, and at 3½ years old are reading independently. We spotted an error in The Star Stone Robber on pages 12/13. The text goes from "Kitty hugged her." on page 12 to "across the..." on page 13. One of my girls suggested that you didn't want to write something there, but I'm sure it's just a publishing issue :-) Looking forward to the next Kitty book this year!

Hi Millie, thanks for getting in touch. Yes, I do school visits and my fees for this autumn and spring 2025 are £425 for a whole day visit. You're 3 hours away from me though, so I wouldn't be able to go there and back plus do the visit all in one day. I'd need to add the expense of a one night in a premier inn or similar on top which adds to the fee. Do get back in touch if you're still interested. I'm also on Authors Aloud which organises visits with many different author and speakers. Thanks and best wishes, Paula

Hi Anna, sorry I completely missed your message before Easter. Thanks for messaging me and I'm glad you loved the Secret Rescuers. Authors don't generally choose how long their series are. The publisher chooses that because they're the ones who pay to have the series produced and printed. I would have liked to have written a couple more at least! But it wasn't to be. Best wishes, Paula
