Thanks for your message! The Ava/ Maya name mix-up happened when my UK and US publishers didn't coordinate themselves very well. Leading to the mix up. I hope you're enjoying the Rescue Princesses too! Paula x

We are really enjoying the Secret Rescuers series! Why did Ava’s name get changed to Maya from the Sky Unicorn story to the Sea Ponies book? We’re looking forward to starting the Rescue Princesses series next!

Hi Lolita, thanks for your message. No, sadly it doesn't look like the American publisher has taken these books and the UK publisher doesn't publish them in hardback. Sorry to disappoint you. Best wishes, Paula

Hi, I'm inquiring if the three latest Kitty books will be published in hardcover in the US. We have the first 6 in hardcover and would like to get the three new ones in hardcover also. My Granddaughter loves these books!! Thank you!

Hi Violet, thanks for writing to me. I'm so pleased you like the Robyn Silver books. I would have liked to write a 3rd one but sadly there wasn't the money (at the publisher) to do it so I had to move on to a different series. But I've also written the Red Moon Rising trilogy for your age group - Red Moon Rising, Dark Tree Shining and Pale Peak Burning. If you like Robyn Silver and Harry Potter you might like those too! Thank you for writing Robyn Silver

Our daughter loves audio books and, as much as I love Julia Donaldson, I couldn't stand hearing the same short story on repeat, so I researched a chapter book I thought she might like and came up with Kitty and the Moonlight Rescue. She loves it and listens to it all the time, regularly borrowing lines from it for her own catty adventures.
Anyway, she's now managed to listen to that book so many times that I need to hear something else. She only wants to listen to Kitty stories so I was delighted that there are several. I've found two more audiobooks in the series but that's all. Are there any plans to publish the others as audiobooks? It will be a long time before she can read the chapter books for herself but she really does love them.

Hello, I hope it's okay for us to message you! My son Kenny and I really enjoyed the Secret Rescuers books. We wanted to know if you have any plans to write more stories for that series - we are really hoping for a show down between the Rescuers, the Magical Creatures and The Queen and Sir Fitzroy! We think Sophy could show them the error of their ways! Thank you very much. And Kenny wants me to add "three more thank yous"

Hi Sarah Smalley, I'm going to delete your message after replying so that your address isn't visible. Thanks so much for your message. I'm so pleased Lottie enjoyed my visit to Rosemead. No I'm not local. But after my visit I went to Tales on Moon Lane book shop in Herne Hill to sign books for them and I left them with lots of signed bookplates. So it might work well to buy all the Kitty books from them? You can get signed copies! If not - my books are available to order in all Waterstones branches or independent book shops, or to order online from book shop websites/ Amazon. Hope that helps and happy reading! Paula xx

    Hi Paula,
My kids are HUGE Kitty fans. And here i was thinking we had them all (first 6) when I just discovered that there are 3 more. Do you know how I can buy these books in Canada? I can't seem to find a retailer. Our books are so worn in that I think the spines will give out soon.

    Noa Kugler (Saturday, 19 February 2022 19:08)

    Dear Paula,
I hope this email finds you well.

My name is Noa Kugler, I am 7 years old and I live in Jerusalem with my parents, my two brothers. I am writing to you regarding "The Rescue Princesses" series (well translated into Hebrew), which the first two books of it I have just finished reading with my father Yossi (who is helping me to write this email). It was a great experience for me and a great quality time with my father.

Besides improving my reading (I am now in first grade in an elementary school), the books helped me to better understand the importance of self-confidence, friendship and protecting the animals and nature.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of the series and your other books.

    Thank you very much!

Hi Karen, I think all UK offices are under a 'working from home' order for another week. I think someone will be back in after that, but if there has been a lot of mail received in the meantime it could take them a while to process it all. If you post it, do reassure her that I will reply once I get it even if that takes a while. Otherwise you could take a photo and post it on to twitter or instagram and tag me? Then I can respond more quickly. I know that's probably not the same though. Best wishes, Paula

Hi Megan, thanks for your question. No, The Sea Pony is the final Secret Rescuers book. I was asked to leave it slightly open ended in case there was a return to the series, but then I was asked to go on to new books. Best wishes, Paula

Hi Ella, thanks for your lovely message. I'm so pleased you like The Rescue Princesses. There are 15 books in the series altogether. I had the idea when I was thinking about animals in need one day. It's not too hard to become an author if you like writing stories but it's good to keep practising! Happy Christmas! Paula x

Hi Cat, thanks for your lovely message! I think you have some very interesting ideas there. I think that once you're a Rescue Princess you're always a Rescue Princess even when you grow up! Yes I think a prince could definitely be part of a rescue team. You might have to call it Rescue Royals! :) I love your idea for the biggest adventure yet! I hope you have a lovely time over the holidays. Best wishes, Paula

Hi there, My name is Richard Austin, headteacher at Grayshott CE Primary School on the Surrey/Hampshire border. I gave the children in the school the chance to write to anyone in the world that they admire and one of our Year 2 children chose you. I notice from your website that it is better to ciontact you through here so here is her letter. It would mean the world to her if could find the time to get back to her.

    Dear Mrs Harrison,
My name is Ella. I am in Blue Class at Grayshott Primary school. How did you get into writing The Rescue Princesses? I admire you because you make good rescue princess. How many rescue princesses have you made? thank you for taking the time to reading my letter and how much practise does it take to become an author.
    yours sincerely,

  • #218

    Catherine Black (Friday, 10 December 2021 00:03)

    Dear Paula,

My name is Catherine Black, but most people just call me Cat. I am 8 years old. I really admire your work with the Rescue Princesses. You are my favorite author of all time. A couple of questions I have are: What will happen when they’re grown up since there are no grown ups allowed? Will they have to give up being rescue princesses forever or will they get to stay since they created the rescue princesses? What if their kids became rescue princesses, but one of them has a brother to make it more of a challenge! Do you think you could make rescue princes that are more boy friendly? After I read your books I realized that I wanted to make rescue princesses books too and so I was wondering if I could someday make a rescue princess book where all the rescue princesses have to do their biggest adventure yet, battling all of their enemies, and rescuing many, many types of animals from danger, or what if Jaminta could make magic jewels that let them understand animals of any kind?

    Dear Paula Harrison,
I love your series "The Rescue Princesses" so much, please make more books I would love to read more. Even though I'm 12 almost 13, these 3rd grade books are me happy, they inspire me to read and write.

    Sincerely, Kayla M.

P.S. How about making a series called "The Rescue Princes", but if not that's okay!

Hi Summer! That's so funny that you look just like the Summer in the book! I'm glad you're enjoying the stories. I especially enjoyed writing The Rainbow Opal because I think Australia is such a beautiful and interesting place. Best wishes, Paula

    Paula Harrison (Tuesday, 28 September 2021 10:56)

Hi Kara and Alexandro, my UK publisher (Oxford University Press) have said that their guidelines are that you must:
    - Say the story is read with permission of OUP at the start
    - State the book and author title
    - Is there is a recording, share through a private platform if possible
    - Record in sections of a few chapters if possible (rather than the whole book in one video)
    - Delete the video one month after upload
Of course if you're reading from the HarperCollins edition published in the States they might have slightly different rules, but I would have thought they would be similar. You could always email them and ask. Hope that helps! Best wishes, Paula

Some of my students' favorite books are Kitty' midnight Adventures. Hi Sofija,
Thanks for your lovely message. I wrote book 12 about the Royal Academy for Princesses quite a few years ago, so it's really hard to remember all the details! I think Maya was too young to go to the Academy at first and she went later. Best wishes, Paula

Hello Miss Harrison. I am a big fan of your books and I have a question about your Rescue Princesses series. Why didn't Princess Maya go to the Royal Academy for Princesses?
